It is the Town of Orangeville’s mandate to safely care for and maintain in a consistent manner, Greenwood Cemetery. In doing so the Town wishes to respect the privileges and rights of all interment holders. From time to time the Town is required to seek co-operation and assistance from interment rights holders to achieve its objectives.
Recent inspections by Operations Staff have drawn attention to matters which include overgrown shrubs/vegetation and lot decorations/memorials. Certain types of shrubs/vegetation and lot decorations are not in harmony with the by-laws of the Cemetery and/or they increase the level of service to maintain the Cemetery. Accordingly, many do not conform to the Cemetery By-law 050-2018 (section 7). The Town respectfully requests that arrangements be made to remove all overgrown shrubs – lot decorations/memorials that do not conform to the By-law. Those not removed before November 1, 2019 will be removed by Town Staff.
Should you have any specific questions or require clarity on this matter, please do not hesitate to contact Infrastructure Services at 519-941-0440 Ext. 2250 or [email protected]. Copies of the by-law are available at Town Hall or on the Town of Orangeville website.
The Town thanks all in advance for co-operating in regard to this important matter.
