Paying your tax bill
Did you know the Town has set up a variety of ways to pay your property tax bill?
Late payments
Penalty is chargeable on the first day of default and on the first day of each month. The penalty rate is 1.25% per month.
Didn't receive your tax bill?
If you have not received your tax bill contact us by email or call 519-941-0440 ext. 7306. Property owners are responsible for paying their property taxes even if the bill doesn't arrive by mail. Not receiving the bill does not excuse the owner from penalty or interest charges.
Update your mailing address
If you need to change or update your mailing address with the Town of Orangeville, please fill out a Change of Mailing Address form and submit it to us by email or drop it off in person at your earliest convenience.
Tax bill notice reprint
The current owner of a property can request a tax bill reprint at a cost of $20.40 plus tax and is purchased as proof of taxes paid to date for refinancing purposes, for filing income tax, and when you sell your property. If you are unsure of which notice you require, please clarify with the requesting body or email [email protected].
Returned cheque service charge
A service charge of $45 will apply if your payment is returned for non-sufficient funds (NSF).
Request a refund or transfer
To request a refund or transfer of funds to another property tax account in Orangeville we require a written request by email. A fee of $25.50 will apply to all refund requests for overpayment of taxes and requests to transfer funds between property tax accounts. The $25.50 will be deducted from the transfer or refund.
Change of ownership fee
When a property changes ownership, there is an administration fee for the ownership change in the amount of $35.70 per account. This fee will be added to the property tax account.
Post dated cheque retrieval
If you require a postdated cheque returned to you, a retrieval fee of $20.40 will be applied to the property tax account. Any request to retrieve, return, replace or move a post-dated cheque must be made a minimum of three business days prior to the cheque date.
