The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has announced that as of January 1, 2024, municipal oversight of towing services and storage yard operators will end and shift to Provincial oversight pursuant to the Towing and Storage Safety and Enforcement Act (TSSEA) regulations. The Town’s Towing Services and Vehicle Storage Yard Facility By-law 2022-079 will remain in effect until December 31, 2023.
What this means?
- Tow truck drivers, towing service operators and vehicle storage yard operators currently licensed in Orangeville will be required to maintain compliance with the Town’s By-law until December 31, 2023
- During the period of September 12, 2023 to December 31, 2023, new applicants may provide to the Town the appropriate TSSEA certificate(s) in lieu of completing the Town’s licensing application process
