The Town of Orangeville has proposed to establish a new Heritage Conservation District – Merchants and Prince of Wales Heritage Conservation District. This proposal will help to preserve the architectural heritage of old residential neighbourhoods in Orangeville.
Proposed district area
The study areas generally encompass a historic residential area adjacent to the Downtown Heritage Conservation District, which includes west Broadway, Zina Street, York Street and Bythia Street, as well as First Street and First Avenue. Background study
In December of 2015, the Town of Orangeville initiated a background study into designating the study areas as potential Heritage Conservation Districts. Review the Merchants and Prince of Wales Heritage Conservation District Background Study to learn about the historic importance of this neighbourhood. The study includes a heritage evaluation as well as the history and development of the area.
