Recreation and Parks Master Plan – In a special meeting, Council received the Recreation and Parks Master Plan, by thinc Design Inc., and asked staff to bring back a report setting out a prioritization and implementation plan for recommended projects.
Consultants Michael Tocher, Leandra Correale Ferguson and Mary Catherine Mehak provided an overview of the Recreation and Parks Master Plan at the virtual meeting. The plan identifies and evaluates current and projected recreation and parks needs and trends, assesses the Town’s recreation and parks services, infrastructure, policies and partnerships, provides recommendations for new/improved facilities, parks, programs and events and provides guidance on the potential role of the municipality as a regional service provider.
It’s expected that the staff plan will be discussed by Council members prior to 2021 budget deliberations. Those projects approved by Council will then be submitted for further approval in the capital and operating budget process.
In future, staff is asked to report annually on the implementation progress of the Recreation and Parks Master Plan 2020-2030.
