With a sharing protocol in place when special months are proclaimed and flags are raised on the flagpole at Town Hall, the Pride flag is back up for the end of the month and this special event. That's thanks to the Dufferin County Cultural County Resource Circle’s gracious act of sharing the space with the Indigenous flag.

Mayor Sandy Brown says public awareness and acceptance is key. “Discrimination still occurs but events like Celebrate Your Awesome in Orangeville help to educate and celebrate the historical war that was fought and the ongoing claim for respect and dignity amongst the LGBTQ community.”

Councillor Lisa Post, a member of the Celebrate Your Awesome organizing committee, says she is passionate about ensuring that every person can feel safe, included and supported regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or religion.

Show your support to an inclusive community by joining Celebrate Your Awesome on June 27 from 8 p.m. to midnight.
