Mayor's Chain of Office recovered

The Town of Orangeville has a chain of office again. Generally kept in the Mayor's Office in Town Hall, the Mayor’s Chain of Office was discovered missing prior to the inaugural meeting of Orangeville Council, held on December 3, 2018.

Town staff requested a police investigation on Wednesday, December 12. Several staff members were interviewed by police at Town Hall on Thursday, December 13.

Some time between 9 p.m. on Thursday, December 13 and 7 a.m. on Friday, December 14, a cardboard box containing the chain of office was left on a staff member’s front porch.

Police were notified, interviewed the staff member, and took the chain of office to the police station. It was returned to Town Hall late Friday morning and is now stored in a secure location.
