Florentina Foods Ltd. breaks ground for Orangeville manufacturing facility

Florentina Foods Ltd. is breaking ground at its soon-to-be new home in Orangeville. Approximately 4.1 acres of Town-owned lands were sold to Florentina Foods in May 2017 to make way for the new manufacturing facility in Orangeville. The facility will be located at 165 Centennial Road.

“Florentina Food's new facility brings considerable investment to Orangeville,” said Mayor Jeremy D Williams. “It represents the latest sign of our success in attracting new businesses here and is a tangible indication of how strong our local economy has become. Their new production and R&D facility will bring stable employment and is ideally situated between the rural food producing areas of Ontario and the vast markets of the GTA and United States. It continues to build on our goal of making Orangeville a centre for the food and agricultural sector. I'm proud they will be calling our town home. I congratulate and welcome them to Orangeville.”

Florentina Foods Ltd. specializes in the manufacture of frozen entrees and other food products for several large-scale retail and food services clients throughout North America. In addition to manufacturing product under its own brand, numerous well-known private label companies comprise Florentina’s customer base. As a business registered with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), Florentina Foods will construct the manufacturing facility in Orangeville to CFIA standards, enabling them to export products to diverse clientele worldwide.

According to partners David Shram and Noumi Dvir, Florentina Foods had been searching for a new location that would enable expansion of the enterprise. “We have experienced tremendous growth and the Orangeville facility will ensure that we can fulfill the increasing demand for our products,” said Mr. Shram, “Orangeville stood out as a community with a welcoming environment and opportunities for growth.”

The relocation of Florentina Foods Ltd. to Orangeville is good news for the local economy. In addition to the jobs associated with erecting the 5,737 square metre (61,753 square feet) building, tax revenues and future job opportunities are other positive factors of the sale. Upon opening, the business is expected to create 60 to 80 new jobs in Orangeville. In addition to food processing, the facility will boast an innovative research and development department that will work with private label customers towards new product development.

“Florentina has diverse revenue streams, creating stability and strong prospects for future growth – all qualities that we look for in new business development,” said Ruth Phillips, Orangeville’s Manager of Economic Development and Culture. “Florentina Foods provides a great example of our growing food cluster and will represent our community very well.”
