Bloomin' gardens receive 2018 recognition by Communities in Bloom Committee
Orangeville’s Communities in Bloom (CiB) Committee organizes an annual garden showcase event for residents and businesses to showcase their gardening skills and successes. The Bloomin‘ Garden Showcase winners were announced this week and recognition was awarded in the following categories:
Best Bloomin‘ Home Landscape: Wayne and Wanda White of Oakwood Crescent
Best Bloomin’ Home Landscape – Best Use of a Small Space: Lori Smith of Fourth Avenue
Best Bloomin’ Edible Garden: Annika Paterson of Hunter Road
Best Bloomin’ Restaurant: Mill Creek Gardens of Little York Street
Best Bloomin’ Container Gardens: Nancy Rae of First Avenue
Best Bloomin’ Business: The Scented Drawer on Broadway
Best Bloomin’ Government Building: Alder Recreation Centre
Best Bloomin’ Children’s Garden: Leah Kuzyk of Glengarry Road
Best Bloomin’ Floral Home Display: Pauline and Peter Rood of Jackson Court
The Garden Showcase leads into the national CiB competition for the Town.
Orangeville participated in the 2017 national CiB competition and won a five-bloom bronze rating and a special mention for collaborative partnerships award in the bronze category. The 2018 national competition pits Orangeville against Leamington, Ontario and Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland in the population category of 10,001 to 30,000. National judges will be touring the Town from July 12-14.
