Council votes to stay with Orangeville Police Service

Jun 13, 2017 | Council | General

In one of its most significant and controversial decisions ever, Orangeville Council voted this week to reject the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) costing proposal and continue to support the Orangeville Police Service for municipal policing.

A motion to accept the costing proposal by the OPP was supported by Councillors Scott Wilson, Sylvia Bradley, and Don Kidd but opposed by Mayor Jeremy D Williams, Deputy Mayor Warren Maycock, and Councillors Gail Campbell and Nick Garisto.

Council’s 4-3 decision this week sees the Town vote to stay with the status quo.
