Orangeville chosen for television thriller series

A film production company will be shooting portions of eight episodes of a television series entitled “Slasher” in Orangeville during the first week of May.

Some shooting has taken place in the Town of Mono where the production companies have set up a base camp. Film crews move into downtown Orangeville next week. From May 1-5, several scenes will be shot on both sides of Broadway and just off Mill Street.

Scenes will also be shot at the Alder Recreation Centre and at three local homes. A location manager has worked with Town officials, as well as some private property owners, to make arrangements for the various scenes. No road closures will be necessary but some parking will be required by the crews, as well as for production vehicles, for several hours at a time. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained around the various locations, with some occasional interruptions.

Slasher is an anthology series so season two is totally unconnected to season one. In this season – a group of five twenty-somethings return to the summer camp they attended five years previous to cover up an accidental crime they committed – only to find “new age” modernists living at the camp and the body is missing. Worse – someone in their party is killed. The show is billed as a fast-paced thriller for the millennial generation.
