Certificate of Recognition Recipients 2023

Health care workers are just one of the pillars of our community, ensuring in their many roles that our residents, friends, family, and neighbours have access to the care and support they need.

On Monday, October 16, during its regular meeting, Council presented two local health care workers with a Certificate of Recognition in celebration of their outstanding contributions to the community in the Town of Orangeville.

“Council is honoured to have the opportunity to recognize Robin Berger and Nina Little for their accomplishments and dedication to our community over the duration of their careers and into their retirement,” said Mayor Lisa Post. “Through their work, Robin and Nina have provided much needed support to young families and new parents.”

The two recipients worked together for many years, with a large focus on supporting families with babies and young children.

Robin Berger

After 49 years as a Lactation Specialist in Orangeville, Robin retired in August 2023. She worked as a Public Health nurse with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health from 1974 to 2011. In 1994, Robin attained certification as a lactation consultant and was the first nurse to earn it at the local agency. Together with two other public health nurses, Robin collaborated with Obstetrics staff to open a community breastfeeding clinic at the old Orangeville hospital, moving to Headwaters Health Care Centre, and eventually opening the Breastfeeding Centre at the WDGPH office on Broadway. Robin also runs a breastfeeding clinic at The Centre Church and has been running her own practice since May 2011.

Nina Little

Working for WDGPH and Dufferin Child and Family Services, Nina spent more than 34 years providing support to families with children aged six and under that had special needs. This included premature babies, medical issues, disabilities and more. Nina also worked with young moms needing support for struggles such as postpartum depression. After retiring several years ago, Nina joined Robin at the Breastfeeding Clinic held at The Centre Church.

The Certificates of Recognition were presented to Robin Berger and Nina Little in the Town Hall lobby prior to the public council meeting.
