We want to update you regarding the cybersecurity incident involving the Town. The Town of Orangeville is investigating a cybersecurity incident that affected our systems. When we discovered the incident, our staff acted quickly to protect information and reduce risks. This helped to limit exposure.

While we are still reviewing the data, on March 31, we shared that personal identifying information for current and former employees of the Town of Orangeville, and former employees of the Orangeville Police Service from 2005-2023 may have been affected. To date, there is no evidence of broad-based public impact, and our monitoring service has not revealed that any information has been posted.

The Town has notified people who might have been impacted based on data reviewed at this time. If you worked for the Town of Orangeville and/or the Orangeville Police Service during 2005 and 2023 and think you should have received a notification, please contact the Clerk's office by email at [email protected] or by phone at 519-938-6756 and leave a message including your name and either a mailing address or email address where we can send a notification if required.

Notifications will continue to be sent if more data is discovered. Credit monitoring is being offered as a precautionary measure, depending on the type of information potentially affected. Specific details were shared in the notification letters.

We want to apologize to those individuals who have potentially been impacted. We acknowledge the seriousness of this incident.

Our top priority remains the integrity of Town systems and protecting sensitive and private information.
