Notice of Passing of By-law 2026-049

The council of the Corporation of the Town of Orangeville passed By-law No. 2026-048 and 2026-049 on August 10, 2026, pursuant to Section 29(1) of the Ontario Heritage Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. O. 18, Part IV (the “Ontario Heritage Act”)

  • Location of subject land: 18 Wellington Street. Located on the west side of Wellington Street, south of Church Street and north of Parsons Street, within the town of Orangeville.
  • Date of decision: August 10, 2026
  • Date of notice: August 25, 2026
  • Last date to appeal: September 24, 2026 (no later than 4:30 p.m.)

Purpose and effect of the bylaw

The purpose and effect of By-law 2026-049 is to designate the properties known as 18 Wellington Street respectively, under Part IV, Section 29 of the Ontario Heritage Act as a property of cultural heritage value or interest. 

When and how to file an appeal

Any person who objects to this bylaw may appeal to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) by filing a Notice of Appeal with the clerk of The Corporation of the Town of Orangeville no later than 4:30 p.m. on September 24, 2026, being 30 days from the date of this notice:

  1. via the Ontario Land Tribunal e-file service (first-time users will need to register for a My Ontario Account) at https://olt.gov.on.ca/e-file-service by selecting Town of Orangeville as the Approval Authority; or
  2. if the e-file portal is down, the Notice of Appeal can be submitted by mail or hand-delivered to the attention of the Town Clerk, 87 Broadway, Orangeville, ON L9W 1K1.

If an appeal is filed in person or electronically after 4:30 p.m. during the 30-day window, it will be recorded as received the next business day.

The Notice of Appeal must:

  1. be in writing;
  2. set out the objection to the by-law and reasons in support of the objection;
  3. be accompanied by the Ontario Land Tribunal fee of $1,100.00, which can be paid online through e-file or by credit card/certified cheque/money order to the Minister of Finance, Province of Ontario; and
  4. be accompanied by the Town’s administrative processing fee of $579.69, which can be paid through the Town’s online payment portal (via Interact/debit or credit card) at orangeville.ca/Appeals, or by cheque payable to the Town of Orangeville, to the attention of the Town Clerk, 87 Broadway, Orangeville, ON L9W 1K1. Payment is also accepted in person at Town Hall via cheque, Interact/debit or cash through the Revenue Services desk.
