Harvey Curry Park is being transformed for next summer. Janet Elliot of Openspace Solutions Inc. presented Orangeville Council with an update this week on the redevelopment plans for Harvey Curry Park (home of Everykids Park) at 90 Dawson Road.

The goal is to create an accessible park that is appropriate for all ages and abilities that promotes inclusive play and a healthy lifestyle. The park will have defined play areas for junior children (18 months to five years of age) and senior children (5-12 years), with accessible surfacing in all areas.

The enlarged splash pad will boast 360 square metres (or 3,875 square feet) with 14 above-ground features including an explorer dome, 13 ground sprays, two puddles, a recirculated water system, a pre-cast building, as well as shade and seating. Plans include 19 new trees, seven benches and three picnic tables.

The splash pad bases and play equipment are under construction this week. The water treatment system and benches are to be installed in November, with the splash pad features to be installed in mid-May. Rubber and turf surfacing will be installed in early June, with an official opening date of July 1, 2020.
