Electric vehicle charging stations – Council approved a three-year Memorandum of Understanding with the County of Dufferin for the provision of an EV station, with two units, at the Alder Recreation Centre parking lot.

Sign variance denied – Council denied a variance to the sign by-law to permit an additional ground sign at the Orangeville Mall at 150 First Street.

Future crisis care bed facility – Orangeville Council has supported the recommendations of the Town’s Men’s Homelessness Committee for a men’s shelter in recent months but the idea, with input from the County of Dufferin and the Town of Caledon, has evolved into a plan for a crisis care bed facility.

Council agreed to reserve the fire hall at 10 Dawson Road and approximately one acre of land from the larger parcel to create a crisis care bed facility to be run by Services and Housing in the Province (SHIP). Habitat for Humanity has targeted Orangeville for an Affordable Housing Build Project.

The project will be conditional on the following:

  • securing operational support from Ontario Health
  • securing zoning approval from the Town
  • providing that reasonable value can be recovered via lease or sale of the property with the operator
  • providing approvals can be secured by all stakeholders including Credit Valley Conservation
