Join us on Wednesday, October 22 to celebrate Small Business Week in Orangeville.

From October 19 to 25, Small Business Week recognizes the economic impact of small businesses and the significant contributions they make to their local communities. Defined as operations with 1 to 99 employees, small businesses make a big impact across Canada. Of the 1.1 million businesses in Canada, 98% of them have fewer than 100 employees and are considered small businesses. That same percentage exists right here in Orangeville. Almost 1,000 small businesses operate across a wide range of sectors. This diversity enhances the resiliency of our local economy, a particularly valuable contribution during uncertain economic situations. Collectively, our small businesses foster innovation, create jobs, and enhance the vibrancy of Orangeville. Small Business Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the entrepreneurs who drive our community forward with their dedication, creativity, and resilience.

Since 2003, the Orangeville and Area Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) has supported new and existing businesses in and around Dufferin County. These services are offered in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade, the Town of Orangeville, Dufferin County, the Town of Shelburne and Community Futures of South Georgian Bay.

To celebrate Small Business Week, the Orangeville and Area Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC) will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, October 22 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 200 Lakeview Court (upper level). Meet our team, learn about the SBEC’s free services and programs, and celebrate the contributions of our local small business owners. Everyone is welcome to attend. A proclamation will be delivered by Mayor Lisa Post at 4:30 p.m. and light refreshments will be served.  No registration is required – simply drop by for a visit.

The importance of small businesses will also be recognized at the 2025 Business at Breakfast event on Wednesday, November 5. This year's event will include a Small Business Showcase featuring six local entrepreneurs who are running successful operations in Dufferin County. Each one has a unique business that contributes to our local economy. Meet the owners, learn about their products and services, and hear about the support they've received through the Orangeville and Area Small Business Enterprise Centre. Business at Breakfast attendees will also get a chance to win services offered by each business. Tickets are available online until October 30.
