Orangeville Kin Club road toll – Council passed a by-law authorizing the Kin Club of Orangeville to hold a road toll event at Fourth Avenue and Third Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on September 18, 2021.

Humber Lands – Primacare Living Solutions – Council heard a presentation by Matthew Melchior of Primacare Living Solutions with respect to a campus of care senior residences that would provide a continuum of care. A potential location for such a facility could be on the Humber Lands. Mr. Melchior requested to purchase the Humber Lands from the Town of Orangeville. Council referred the item to staff for review, comment and recommendations.

Official Plan Review Steering Committee – Council received a report about the Official Plan Review Steering Committee and approved the Terms of Reference. Councillor Grant Peters and Councillor Todd Taylor were appointed to the Committee as Council representatives. As of Monday, November 1, the elevator at Town Hall (87 Broadway) is currently out of service until further notice. The Town is working on repairs to have the elevator back in service as soon as possible. However, the outage could last several days, pending delivery of a replacement part for the power control board.

An independent film company will be shooting scenes for an upcoming movie, “Impasse”, on October 29 at Bythia and Princess Streets and at two private residences. The movie is being produced under the direction of Barett Caplan and features actor Nicholas Campbell who starred in the TV show “Davinci’s Inquest” and currently stars in “The Coroner." The action thriller is expected to be released in the summer of 2022.

Town of Orangeville Chief Administrative Officer Ed Brennan has announced the appointment of Gary Kocialek as Interim General Manager of Infrastructure Services, effective November 1, 2021. “Gary has many years of experience in the area of infrastructure services and I’m pleased that he accepted this interim role,” Mr. Brennan said. “Gary will be with us as we conduct the recruitment process for a permanent General Manager of Infrastructure Services.”
