Together, let's be leaders in creating safe, welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Respect YOUR Rec aims to put a positive challenge to our community to treat our recreational spaces (parks, playgrounds, rec centres, and libraries), staff, and other users with respect. The campaign is in response to the increase in mistreatment of our spaces, equipment, staff, and other patrons, that has been witnessed over the past year.
What does it mean to respect YOUR rec?
It's simple. It means treating our spaces, its users, and those who work and care for them with kindness.
It means cleaning up after ourselves.
It means reporting when we see someone doing something disrespectful, like damaging walls, bathrooms, and playground equipment, treating staff and others rudely, or throwing garbage everywhere but the trash.
It means committing to setting an example for others, to being a champion of respect.

A safe space for all: understanding the Rzone policy
Did you know the Town of Orangeville has an official policy for keeping our spaces safe? Called the R-Zone policy, it highlights respect and responsibility for users of all Town facilities.
The Rzone applies to anyone using our parks, libraries, recreation facilities, or visiting a Town office. Inappropriate behaviour in violation of the Rzone could result in removal or bans from Town facilities, and in extreme situations, legal actions.
How can you follow the policy and help protect our spaces?
