Spring is here and fresh air, budding blooms, and green grass remind us of the activities and sights that warmer weather brings. The natural landscapes in and around Orangeville offer scenic views and varied ways to experience the great outdoors. Here are three ways to find outdoor adventure this spring.

Get connected in Orangeville

Throughout Orangeville, there are over 20 kilometres of multi-use trails, creating connections between 30+ community parks, neighbourhoods, and public spaces. Use our parks locator to explore all of the green spaces or check out some of our local favourites. At Kay Cee Gardens, you’ll find six utility box art installations as you stroll along Mill Creek, surrounded by the shade of picnic-perfect shade trees. On the Town’s west end, Bravery Park is home to a collection of meaningful art pieces and memorials. A Medicine Wheel Garden also offers a place for reflection. If you’re looking to play, Fendley Park and Harvey Curry Park have some of the best structures in town.

Explore an outdoor oasis

Outdoor enthusiasts love Island Lake Conservation Area for its 800+ acres of lake, wetland, and forest. Don’t miss the park’s signature lakeside loop, an accessible eight-kilometre route that features expansive boardwalks and dynamic views. Two shorter paths invite you to discover the diversity of Island Lake’s natural features. The aptly named Sugar Bush Trail runs 1.2 kilometres over more rugged terrain through a maple-beech forest. The intersecting Memorial Forest Trail offers a 1.6 kilometre route that winds past a butterfly garden, bird houses, and a nut plantation, each providing opportunities to catch a glimpse of local wildlife. View Island Lake Conservation Area’s trail map for more information.

Go beyond our borders

Orangeville’s appeal is further enhanced by the natural beauty of the surrounding area. The Bruce Trail is just one of many routes that ramble through provincial parks, conservation areas, and the stunning Niagara Escarpment. Hiking, cycling, and golfing are just a few of the activities available for outdoor enthusiasts.
