BiblioCommons is the library’s online catalogue. Use the library catalogue to search for books, DVDs, CDs and other items. You can also place hold requests and access your account to see what you have out and when it’s due. Click on the blue box above to log into your account.
How do I find an item in the library catalogue?
Start your search in the box at the top of the page.
- Use the drop down menu to search by keyword, title, author, subject, tag, or list
- After entering your search terms, you can narrow your search with the drop down menus on the left side of the page. Search by format (book, audiobook, DVD, etc.), availability by location, content (fiction or non-fiction) or audience (children, teen, adult)
- Click on the title or cover picture to learn more and to place an item on hold. Note: You will need to click a second time to confirm your hold
- For more searching options try an Advanced Search
Creating a username
The first time you log into BiblioCommons with your 14 digit library card number and four digit PIN, you will be asked to create a username. Once you have registered, you can log into your account with either your username or 14 digit library card number (plus your PIN).
A username is required because of the interactive features of the online catalogue. Your username is your "screen name" that identifies your comments, messages and public lists to other users. Your username will only be visible to others if you choose to share content.
If you'd prefer to be anonymous on the BiblioCommons site, try to select a username that does not personally identify you. Usernames can contain a combination of letters, numbers, or underscores ("_"), but cannot be all numbers.
Can I change my username?
You can change your username at any time. Simply click on 'My Settings' in the drop-down menu on the top right of the screen after you have logged in. You will see the 'Log In' text box where you can enter a new username.
Rate and Recommend
You can review or comment on titles in the catalogue, rate items, and follow other library members whose recommendations you enjoy.
You can also create themed lists. A list is a collection of titles related to a specific topic or idea of your choosing (Favourite Mysteries). You can choose which lists to share with others or to keep private. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to find 'Recent Lists'.
