Information sessions set for volunteer firefighter recruitment

The Orangeville Fire Service is looking to recruit volunteer firefighters.

Anyone interested in learning more should attend one of two information sessions at 10 Dawson Road, Orangeville. The two sessions are set for Wednesday, July 31 at 7 p.m. and Thursday, August 1 at 7 p.m. You must attend an information session to receive an application package.

  • Minimum qualifications:
  • 18 years of age or older
  • First Aid and CPR Level C (upon hire)
  • Secondary school diploma
  • Successfully complete a knowledge exam as well as physical and medical screening tests

Orangeville Fire is a composite service providing fire, rescue, prevention, inspection and education services to the residents and business of the Town of Orangeville and portions of the Town of Mono, Amaranth and East Garafraxa.

The service operates out of one station and responds to over 1600 calls per year.

Orangeville Fire is comprised of a:

  • Fire Chief
  • Deputy Fire Chief
  • Fire Prevention Division
  • Training Division
  • 20 full-time firefighters and 28 volunteer firefighters

The service holds a recruitment every two to three years and is seeking 10 volunteer firefighters in this recruitment campaign.

In-depth training is scheduled to begin in October. Applicants must live within a reasonable distance of the fire station.
