Heritage Conservation District Study Area - Public Meeting
This upcoming public meeting is the statutory public meeting required under Section 41.1(6) of Part V of the Ontario Heritage Act. Before Council can consider a By-law to adopt an HCD Plan, a statutory public meeting must be held to provide the opportunity for the public to provide comments. No formal decision of Council will made at this meeting regarding the Merchants and Prince of Wales HCD Plan.
A Heritage District designation enables Council to manage and guide future change in a district through adoption of a plan with policies and guidelines for conservation, protection and enhancement of the area’s special character.
The purpose of the HCD Plan is to provide a clear and effective framework for the assessment of future design proposals that will protect and enhance the cultural heritage value of the Merchants and Prince of Wales HCD. The document establishes those types of changes that require a heritage permit and those that do not.
A map of the HCD boundary is included with this notice.
A draft of the Merchants and Prince of Wales Heritage Conservation District Plan and Guidelines will be available for review on June 29, 2018 on the municipal website, or may be viewed during business hours in the Clerk’s Department at 87 Broadway, Orangeville, Ontario. For further information, you may also contact Clerk’s Department at 519-941-0440 Ext. 2256 or by e-mail at [email protected] during normal business hours.
