Cultural Plan Task Force Terms of Reference

Mandate:

To contribute to decision making and progress of arts and cultural development within the Town of Orangeville through the advancement of the Town’s Municipal Cultural Plan “Orangeville’s Cultural Advantage” and issues relating to arts and culture.
 

Goals/Objectives:

  1. Provide the Economic Development and Culture office with support in the preparation, maintenance and implementation of the overall Municipal Cultural Plan as required on a project-by project basis;
  2. Support specific projects and initiatives that promote arts and cultural events and activity within the community and which help to fulfil the municipal Cultural Plan;
  3. Make recommendations to Council and propose programs for the enhancement of the community and the development of amenities related to the cultural environment in the Town of Orangeville;
  4. Participate in, monitor and regularly evaluate all plans and policies which are expected to have an impact on the cultural life of the community;
  5. Monitor the strategic directions in the Cultural Plan and advise Council on the progress of these objectives through an Annual Report.
     

Reporting to Council:

  • circulation of monthly minutes
  • presentations/delegations as necessary
  • Task Force reports

Task Force Composition:

Six (6) members as follows:

  • 1 member of Council
  • 1 Cultural Entrepreneur
  • 1 representative from each of the following organizations:
    • Blues and Jazz Committee
    • Dufferin Arts Council
    • Orangeville Business Improvement Area
    • Theatre Orangeville

 

Skills Requested

  • Experience in the arts and culture sector or professional experience within the arts/cultural industries
